LONDON WOOL SALES.

o London, July 14. The competition at the wool sales to-day was very keen. Merinos, except very faulty and scoured, realised prices fully on a par with those ruling at the close of the last sales, and in many instances fetched higher. Orossbreds had an upward tendency. At the wool auctions there was keen competition, but prices are unchanged. The sales close on the 24th inst. The number of bales carried forward to the next series is 100,000, and it is estimated that the number available for the September series, including old stocks, will be 250,000 bales. July 17. (Received July 21, at 1 p.m.) The wool market is excited, and prices for merino are 5 per cent, higher than those ruling at the May series. (Heooived July 21, at 4.30 p.m.) At the wool sales to-day crossbreds were dear, but other sorts were unchanged.

The New Zealand Loan and Mcrcantilo Agency Company have received the following cablegram from London, dated 18th inst.: — "Since the date of our laat telegram, the following descriptions of wool have advanced Jd per lb.: Superior greasy merino, good scoured, good washed, medium to good greasy merino, medium icoured, and medium washed merino ; fine greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, superior greasy lambs' crossbred; other descriptions are unchanged. There is more spirit among buyers. The total quantity catalogued to date is 235,000 bales; total quantity withdrawu to date is 14,000 bales. New Zealand wheat: Average .is worth 363; New Zealand long-berried is worth 375."

The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company (in liquidation) have received the following cablegram from Messrs Helmuth Schwartze and Co-, dated London, 19th Jnly :— " The late decline in wool has been fully recovered during the last fortnight. Prices areas high as the average of last series. As at present arranged sales will last until 24th July. There will probably be 100,000 bales colonial wool held over."
