THE DUNISDIN AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
TO THE EDITOH. Sir, -1 learn, with extreme regret, thit the above club is sadly in need of funds, and is not even able to contribute its share to the expenses of the New Zealand athletes who are going to Sydney next month. Tais speaks very bad indeed for a city like Ounedin. Every other town nf importance is able to keep up their amateur athletic clubs. Surely it cannot he said Dunedin has no lean'ng towards amateurs; but one would infer such from the s( ate of things that exist. I think a good way of raisins funds would be to got up a fancy costume football match, r.nd have it on the next public holiday—viz., the 21th of May—and as an affair like this would be quite novel, it would be sure to take with the public The expenses would ba very little, and probably the ground might be given gratis for the occasion. Trusting to sea something done,—l am, &a,. April 29. . Out of Funds.
