GRAIN REPORT.
Mussm SAMtmr. Oim ,wn Co., Stafford Btreet, report for the week ending July 20 as follov/s :—
Wheat- The market for tin's cereal continues linn, anil although sales are not large, millers are taking up all consignments now coming to hand. Prices remain much about, the same as last, week. Onrquotationsare: For prime milling 4s to 4s 2d, although Tuscan and red straw, which appear settee, would command a little more ; medium to good, 3s 9d to 3s lid ; inferior and fowls' iced, 3s 3d to 3s 7d.
Oat?.—The market for tiiesc does not show much activity, although a considerable quantity is changing hsuds for shipment and milling. Prices show no material alteration, although bright sorts are in far demand. Our Melbourne advices say tliat the market there " is slightly tinner m d prices look on tiie mend." Barley.-The market for this is quiet, stocks being small and demand slight, and very little business ih'ing. Prime malting we quote at 3s lOd to -is ld ; medium to good, 3s lid to 3s Dd ; feeding and milling, 3s to 3s 3.1. h
Grass Scid,—We are still unable to report any transactions of importance, the demand h.dng weak, and prices purely nominal. A fair demand exists for cocksfoot, although business is limited, buyers not caring to give prices asked—viz., for good clean seed, ■1}:1 to 5d ; medium, 3J! to 'Id per lb. N.B.—We beg to announce 13 our numerous grain constituents that we receive consignments of wool, sheep and rnhbitskins also, so tbat any sent will have every attention paid to them. We muke this announcement through this source as many of our friends have been nnder the impression that we confined ourselves simply to grain and seeds.
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET. J. H. Kilooub, grain and produce broker, reports under date July 20 as follows :—
Wheat.—The market remains at about quotations of last week-viz., 3s lOd to -is ld for prime milling, and 3s 8d to 3s 9d for medium, while fowl feed (which continues scarce) may be quoted at 3s ld to 3s 7d, according to quality. Oats.-There is no animation in tho market, as Uie low pricea prevailing in the Australian markets preclude shippers from operating. Quotations therefore remain at ls 7jd to Is 8d for bright short feed; IsBJ-d to ]b 9d for milling; and ls 5d to Is tijd for ordinary feed ; Danish, la 7d to Is Sd.
Barley.—There is sale for good malting lots at 3s lOd to Is (bags weighed in); milling, 3s 3d to 3s 6d feed, 2s 6d t0289d.
Chalt.—Supplies are not over-plentiful, and £3 per ton may be quote! for best oaten shenf; medium £2 10s to £2 12s (id ; straw chaff, 35s to -10s.
Potatoes.—Stocks are now pretty well reduced, and tho recent wet wether has kept supplies from coming in, so that prices remain firm at 40s for Northern, and 35s for Southern; kidneys for seed. 00sto6">s.
Butter.—Fresh, in mixed cases, IOd; salt, almosl ri saleable, at 6d.
Eggs.—The price this week has been ls, but ls 2d might be got to-day. Crass Seed.—No business doing in ryegrass, but cooksfoot is somewhat scarce at 4|d to 4jd. Turnips, lfs (plentiful); carrots, 25s to 30s (also plentiful).
