MINING.
NOTES FROM REEFTON.
(From Oue Own Correspondent.)
Rekfton, July 19.
Big Hiver Extended.—The expected messenger from the battery has not yet arrived, and there is consequently nothing new as to the result of the crushing. An opinion generally prevails, however, that the field is short of eiexpectation, predictions varying between lSdwt and 25dwt per ton. Upon what information these estimates are based I cannot say, the directors declaring that the returns are not known.
Kcup-it-Dark.—The shareholders are now assembling for the extraordinary meeting which is to be held at 8 o'clock. Reports from the mine are highly favourable, and the shares have advanced to 51s net. Otherwise there is nothing doing,
A miner named William Radnell unearthed a splendid specimen of gold at Tarnagulla, Victoria, on tho Gth inst., on some old surface workings, where he was specking after the late rains. The nugget weighs sGoz 15dwt, and is estimated to contain 50oz of pure gold. The locality where it was found is south of the main street, on the Great Western reef.
