' (From Our Own Correspondent.) Timaru, June 1. The dredge Progress and p.s. Titan are expected to leave for your port early to-morrow morning, the tug for usual overhaul.and the dredge to be thorouglv repaired, cleaned, &c, before being handed back to the Oamaru Board. The dredge has been here 3J months and during that time has lifted over 40,000 tons of spoil and dredged a berth at the end of the main wharf 100 ft wide by 550 ft long by 22ft deep, low water spring tides.

Lyttelton—Mahinapua sailed 1.30 p.m. for Timaru. Wellington—Wanaka arrived 9 a.m. from Lyttelton ; sailed 4 p.m. for Nelson. Rotorua arrived 10.30 a.m. from New Plymouth ; sailed 1 p.m. for Lyttelton.

Manukau—Hawea arrived 10.30 a.m. from Wellington.

The s.s. Wairarapa, from Melbourne via the Bluff, arrived iii harbour at 8 a.m. yesterday. She left the Queen's wharf, Melbourne, at noon of May 26th, proceeded to Williamston, and left at 4 p.m. of that day; cleared Port Phillip Heads at 6.20 p.m. same day; passed Swan Island at 11 a.m. of the 27th ult., and arrived at the Bluff at 2 p.m. of the 30th ult.; left again at 4 p.m. of the 31st, and reached Port Chalmers as above. She had north-westerly and south-westerly winds from Melbourne until the morning. of the 28th ult., and thence until arrival at the Bluff S.S.E. winds and heavy seas. We thank Mr H. Tayler (the purser) for report and files.

The s.s. Hauroto, from Sydney via Cook Strait arrived in harbour yesterday morning. She left the U.S.S. Co.'s wharf at Sydney at 5.30 p.m. of May 21st, had light to fresh easterly winds •with fine weather during the passage across, breasted Cape Farewell light at 5 p.m. of the 26th ult., and reached Wellington at an early hour on the 27th; left again at noon of the 28th, and after calling at Lyttelton reached Oamaru at 2.30 p.m. of the3oth ult., discharged a quantity of coal and left again for headquarters at 3.30 a.m. yesterday, arriving alongside the trailway pier, Port Chalmers, at 8.30 a.m. She experienced light variable winds with fine weather during the passage from Wellington. We thauk Mr Fenwick (the purser) for report and files. The s.s. Omapere, from the North, arrived at Port Chalmers at 7 a.m. yesterday and passed np to Dunedin.

The s.s. Wairarapa steamed up to Dunedin yesterday, attended by the s.s. Plucky. The barquentine Guiding Star sailed yesterday forenoon with cargo for Hobart. ' The s.s. Hauroto steamed up to Dunedin yesterday. She sails to-morrow afternoon for Sydney via Cook Strait, taking passengers for Kimberley goldfields via Sydney. Thes.s. Beautiful Star left the Rattray street wharf yesterday evening for Oamaru. The dredge Vulcan was taken into the graving dock yesterday afternoon for overhaul and repair.

The ketch Catlin left Dunedin yesterday for Napier.

The SouthlandNewssuggests that the steamer Triumph should be purchased or chartered for the Home trade by those interested in the Bluff. The Triumph entered the Bluff drawing 21ft 4inaft, and 19ft 6in forward. She will leave drawing 24ft aft.
