1 In the following cases judgment wai given for; plaintiffs by default:—Larnerv. Newey, £6 3s (judgment summons), defendant ordered to pay on the 22nd inst., in default seven days' imprisonment; Anderson and Co. v. Greenwood, 11s 6d, goods supplied. W. Wignall y. R. Whittingham.-£lO 8s 6d (judgment summons). — Mr Denniston, for plaintiff, examined defendant as to his means. Defendant admitted that he had about £100 worth of furniture in his house, but had; granted a bill of sale to a relative as security tor some money' advanced.—The.Magistrate ordered defendant to pay the debt, with costs, by weekly instalments of ss. "'.■'... ; Brooks v. ■ Tunnage.—£3o 14a (judgment summons).—Mr Adams';for.defendant, stated that he wasa poor man" living at Port Chalmers, and his expanses had not been tendered to him, so that he could not attend.—Case' struck out. ••;■•.
Anderson and Co. v. T. Holloway.—Claim £9-4s 7d, goods supplied.—The debt was admitted.—Judgment for plaintiffs, with costs. : Dunedin City and SuburbariTramways Company v. Brenchley.—Claim"£2' 10a, for. damage done to tram'car through defendant negligently' backing his cart against the same.—Mr Cook for plaintiffs, and Mr Mouat for defendant.— Counsel for defendant said he denied everything—he denied that the. tramways belonged to plaintiffs at all, as he understood they were the property of Mr Proudfoot. —Mr Cook applied for an adjournment in.order to produce tie deed of incorporation. — The Magistrate said he saw no reason for granting an adjournment, and would nonsuit plaintiffs.
