LICENSING COURT.

SOUTH DUNEDIN.

The Licensing Committee for South Dunedin South met in tho Town Hall at noon yesterday. There were present: Messrs Wardrop (in the chair), Carey, and Thomas. TRANSFER. Richard Hunter to Henry Bloxham, Kailway Hotel. ! Mr Fitchett asked the Committee to further adjourn this application for a fortnight. Mr Bloxbam did not intend to press his application, and he was arranging for a fresh licensee. There wop a large interest at stake. The Chairman (to the inspector): Have you nny objection ? ! Sergeant Maedonell; We have no objection, but we apply for the costs of witnesses. I would like to ask Mr Fitchett on whose behalf he appears to-day. - Mr Fitchett: For Mr Bloxham, although with the knowledge and consent of Mr Joel, the owner of the building. Idp not think the. Committee should award costs in this matter, as I saw Sergeant Maedonell yesterday and informed him that an application for adjournment would be made, and that it would be unnecessary for him to have his witnesses in attendance . .-...■ Sergeant Maedonell pressed for costs. The Chairman: The Committee has resolved ■ to adjourn the application for seven days, with the object of allowing a fresh name to bo submitted ; costs to be awarded to those witnesses who are present. Mr Fitchett: Might I ask the Committee to make it 14 days. There are a lot of details to arrange, and probably at the end of seven days it would be necessary to ask for a further adjournment. The matter will be definitely settled within 14 days. The request was complied with. ' tATB lIOKNSE. ' Richard Healey, Imperial Hotel. _ Applicant, asked for an extension of his license from 10 p.m. till midnight. Sergeant Maedonell, in answer to the Committee, said that he had no complaints to make as to the conduct of the house. He would suggest that parties requiring an extension of the hours of selling should give notice, in order that the public might have an opportunity of I objecting. Personally, he did not think the extended hours necessary. ; The Chairman intimated that in future notice of similar applications would be necessary. The present application would be granted.
