OUR VOLUNTEERS.

The monthly inspection of the L Battery, New Zealand Artillery, was held in the Brillshed, Fort Chalmers, on Monday evening. There were present: Captain Taylor, Lieutenants Waters and Kettle, three sergeants, one trumpeter, 37 gunners, and 10 bandsmen. The battery was inspected by Captain Taylor, and the men, headed by the band, marched to the battery and were exercised at gun-drill. They were then marched back to, the Drill' shed, when a recruit was elected and another proposed. .
