CHESS AND DRAUGHTS CLUB

No better proof of the success, of the Club could be had than the fact that at the usual meeting, on Monday .night, the Club-room, Central Cafe, was cemfortably filled by players and spectators. Thirty, were playing draughts and six playing chess at the same time, and the onlookers seemed to take about as much interest in the games as the players themselves. The draughts handicap tournament is progressing most satisfactorily, and several chessplayers have joined the Club recently. The attendance on Thursday nights is also very good, and .visitors from the country are often to be seen in the rooms. Mr-Waters, the proprietor of the Cafe1, has provided very suitable accommodation, and seems to look after the comfort of the members in every respect.
