" With the view to encourage tbo manufacture of preserved fruits, jams, Stc, the Coniiiiitte-j, after taking evidence, have directed mc to report that in tlie opinion of the Committee, "Tho duty upon imported jams, jellies, and prossives should be increased by per lb. " That the Government should as soon as possible import sorghum seed for distribution, and should also import tlie machinery required for the manufacture of sugar from sorghum." i
