Parker, brigantine, for London: Arawata, s.s., for Dunedin; Penguin, s.s., for Wellington ; Annie Hill, for the Bluff. ' The s.s. Maori arrived at Port Chalmers at 1 a.m yesterday from Oamaru, arid passed up to Dunedin. -Messrs Bright Brothers and Co. inform us that in order to afford the importers of tea in this Colony an opportunity of receiving their stock of the new season's teas without delay, the Eastern and Australian Steam Ship Company (for whom Messrs Bright Brothers are agents) have made arrangements to lay on at Foochoo at the commencement of the new season one of their fastest steamers for New Zealand ports direct. The boat's first place of call will be Auckland, and thence by the East Coast to Wellington, Nelson, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. We are glad to welcome a now era in this branch of the shipping interest, and cordially wish the Company success. The ship Piako put out two heavy lifts yesterday forenoon, and was afterwards shifted over to the Export Pier, where she will load for London. r The barque Cl fton was. shifted up the Export Pier yesterday. After she is clear of cargo she will be taken into the Graving Dock for overhaul. ■'.',; •_ Owing to the insufficiency of wharf accommodation at Port Chalmers, the ship British Sceptre was detained in the stream yesterday. This could easily be' obviated if the Government were to lay down rails on the .new pier, and connect it with the main Hue of railway. The s.s. Wakatipu sailed yesterday afternoon with passengers and cargo for Sydney, via Lyttelton and Wellington. The s.s. Shag made a trip to Shag Point and back yesterday.
