CAVERSHAM.

The annual breaking-up and distribution of prizes and certificates of this school was held on Dec. lfi, Mr R. Rutherford (chairman of the School Committee) presiding. He spoke in complimentary terms of the efficiency of the school and the increase in the num-

ber of its scholars. He also complimented the scho'ars on their diligence and regular attendance. He referred

to the fact that two years ago there were only three first-class certificates awarded, last year 36, lint this year the large number of SO were to be presented, An address was also given by Mr Cochran, who, having visited the school every week during the past year, and watched the register, was able to give a detailed description of the attendance. He stated that he had called on the parents of absent children, and was glad to see by the improvement of the attendance sheets that his labours had not been in vain.
