Luke, who was high up in the list of winnim; jockeys this season, has been suspended for the remainder of the year^ for striking Greaves in the mouth with his whip after passing the post in a raoe at Huntingdon. Robert the Devil oarried Bst 61b in the Caesarewitoh Stakes, the greatest weight under which a three year-old has won that race. He had 9at in the Cambridgeshire, which would be increased to lOat by his 141b penalty for winning the Ccasarewitch. Up to September 4th G. Fordham had won 70 races out of 236 mounts; F. Archer, 69 out of 197 ; T. Cannon, 66 oat of 263j H. Luke, 52 out of 278. Mr P. Lorillard offered the Messrs Dwyer Bros. £5000 for their three year old colt Luke Blaokburn, by Bonnie Scotland out of Nevada, after his viotory in the Champion Stakes at Monmouth Park. Had the bid been aooepted, Mr Lorillard would have sent the oolt to EngTwelve horses started for the St. Leger this year.
