GREYMOUTH COAL COMPANY.
A meeting of the Dunedin shareholders o£" the Greymouth Coal Com puny, called by advertisement, was beld at Wain's Hotel Manse street, on the 26th ult. A large number of shareholders were present. Mr Davie made a statement of tho action taken by the Committee appointed at last-, meeting of Dunodin shareholders, and amongst other things stated that, iv consequence of the course pursued by the Greymouth shareholder*, in attempting to realise the assets of the Company by private tender, tbey had that day presented a petition to the Supremo Court, asking • that the affairs of the Company bo wound up under the authority of tho Court. It was resolved and carried unanimously—" Ist. That, this meeting approves of the action taken by the Committee appointed at last meeting, and. now tender them tho cordial thanks of the.Dunedin shareholders for the trouble they have. taken." 2nd. " That tho same Committee be requested to continue^ to act on bohalf of the. Dunedin shareholders in such manner as theydeem best."
The General Church of England Assembly for the Melbourne diocese was opened oa. the 18th September. An eloquent address. was delivered by Bishop Moorhouse.
