THE IXVERCARQILIi BAND. The members of this excellent band played some selections of music last Saturday afternoon at the OctaIfon. A crowd was gathered, and the well-executed performance was thoroughly appreciated. The m inner in which " The Death of Nelson " n-s played deserves spr-cial mention. The Volunteers mustered at 2 o'clock at the Customhouse Squere on Sunday afternoon for the purpose of holding divine service. The following was the order observed* —First, the Inverearfjili Artillery, then .the Invercargill Rifles, Dunediu Artillery, No. 1 Company City Guards, North Dunedin Rifles, Ho. 2 oVmpany Clutlm Kifles, Dunedin Naval Brigade, City Uuards Cadets, with the Dunedin Naval Cadets bringing up the rear. On tilling in, the comroand "wheel into line "was given, and after "fours" and "right," the whole marched in the direction of All Saints* Church, where the service was to be held. About a thousand people were assembled along the route taken, and at the church accommodation couid, bo found for a very few besides ihe Voluntee's, who numbered 310 strom*. The ltcv.
