The evidence was the same as that taken against Sierrin, .snd the accused was committed to take his jtrial at the nekb sittings of the Supreme Court, Timaru, in June. Bail was allowed, himself in £200, and two sureties of £100. ...Contrary to., expectation, no inquest was ■held on the remains found,on the beach. Collins identified the body as that of his son. The charge of stealing a Volunteer carbine brought against John Cormackj was heard ; this morning. The accused stated that the weapon was left at his residenceby a lodger, who went away owing money, and he , (accused) was under the impiesaion that it ■was private property. , Prosecutor stated ;that the carbine had been returned, and was quite confident there was ho felonious intent. He wished the case to be withdrawn. The Magistrate said if the, case was proceeded with, and proved, he could not meet it with a fine, and imprisonment would follow. From what he had heard, he agreed with the : prosecutor that there was no criminality, jaiid therefore would dismiss the case. . -•
