EDUCATION OF WOMEN.

TO TUB EDITOR.

Sik—The severest fling at the universal absence of certain education in women I ever heard was, when two friends were having a very strong argument, the one, in a towering passion, said to the other, " I give it over, you argue like a woman," meaning that the other did not argue at all. Why women should so long abide subject to such a sarcasm I know not, but are they not accepted sayings. " woman's argument is based upon the words—ifc is because it is"; " persuade a woman if you like, but convince her never," &c. Now it is simply twaddle that women's minds are not adapted for reasoning and thinking. That women do not think and reason is because civilisation has not jet reached the proper adjustment of woman in her place in society. Women have not been taught to think and reason owing to that. Referring to the leader in to-day'a Timea, Her Majesty's Inspector of schools, in enumerating the beautiful results of the girls studying Euclid, might well have added, and these girls have for ever unlearned the cause of the accepted taunt, " what's the use of trying to reason with a woman ?"—I am, tec., Ettuo.
