TO THE EDITOR,
Sir— Will yon be kind enough to allow mc to explain the peculiar circumstances by reason of which my name appears last on the list of candidates for the above Scholarships, published in your issue of to-day ? Having arranged to compete in Wellington at the time advertised, the further postponement of the examination for a week left me only one day in Wellington, before leaving for Dnncdin to attend the University. I was informed, under the circumstances, I would not be placed, but the contrary baa been done.—l am, &c.,
