FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE.

O THE EDITOR.

Sir—There being apparently uo doubt as to the appearance of foot-and-mouth disease in Victoria, I sent the following telegram to Mr Gisborne, but have not yet received any reply :— "Toko., 27th,4une, 1872.—Mr Gisborne, Wellington.—Are any steps taken to prevent tho introduction of foot-and-mouth disease from Australia or elsewhere?"

Aa probably the Government is so much taken up with thd "great policy of colonisation," that it has no time to d«vote to a matter which may, if neglected, depreciate the value of pastoral property to a serious extent, T trust tliat a meeting of persons interested will be at once held with the view to devise measures to protect their interests. — I am, &.C.,

Wm. Antiw. Murray.
