"SEND FOR THE MILLINGTARY."

— Dickens.

To the EdiUrr of the Otaoo Daily Times

Sir—l observe that the latest recipe for tho cure of the Native disorder is that His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen should dismiss his advisere and summon from Australia the Commander-in-Chief of the Forces. Will you be kind enough to inform mo whether the Governor has tho power to dispense /with his advisors whenever ho pleases, and to send a summons to tho Commander-in-Chief 7 Will you also inform mo whether the people of New Zealand, who clamoured for Representative Government some time ago, would submit to the autocratic sway of a Governor and to the unconstitutional dismissal of his advisers 1 Will yon also inform me whether, if the Commander-

tn-Chief wero summoned, he would condescend to come ; and also, supposing he did come, whether he would come alono or bring with him tho forces under hia command ? You may as well inform me at the same time, whether the Comman-der-in-Chief has power to declare war without tho authority of the Imperial Government ? and lastly, whether the Governor should not send for the Commodore of the Australian Station as well as the Commander-in-Chief ?—I am, &c., 17th November. 0. K.
