WHEN THE HORSE IS STOLEN LOCK

THE. STABLE DOOll. (To the Editor of the Daily TihesJ Sir,—The above adage appears to be followed very much by the careless way in which our newly formed streets are being made, as r.o precaution is used to prevent persons, falling over a perpendicular embankment of six feet on a public road. On Friday night last a la<iy full over such a one just above the Weslevan Church, and near the Hell Tower, severely fracturing her leg, and last night I perceive a miserable lantern has been hung near the spot. But why are such dangerous places allowed to exist ? If the cutting ha) been brought to a slope such accidents would be avoided. It is to be hoped the Town Board will be made to pay for tha carelessness of their servants. I am, kc, Bell Tower. 26th June, 1864.
