WAITAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
'.[COMMUNICATJ3I>.] . A meeting of the AVaitahuaa Road Board took place at the Miners' Arms Hotel, on-the 21st instant, for the purpose of opening tenders which were sent in to the Board, for the making of that part of the road between Smith's butcher's shop and Cook's store. The following members were present: —Dr. Samuels (chairman), Captain Suttsr, Messrs. Jaimeson, Cook, Joseph Lazarus, J. M'G-re-gor (Miners 1 Arms), J. B. Ahem, Joseph Buckle, Murdock, H. Adamson, W. Rutherford (hon secretary), and Thomas Beamish. The minutes of tho last meeting being read and confirmed, the Secretary stated that he had received four tenders (which he was directed, to open), namely, JMr J. A. Ross tendered to do the 'work for L 13 0; George Tuiton and Thomas Bush, L 143 15s; H., Adamson, LI 43 ; D. Kirkwood and Co, LI 30. £; It-was then- moved by Mr Murdoch, and seconded by Mr Adamson, that Kirk'wood and Cq's teifc &r be accented. A long
discussion arose betwixt the several members of the Board, when Mr J. M'Gregor moved that the tender of H. Adamson be accepted, for L 143 ; this was seconded by Mr-Beamish but was lost, Kirkwood and Co's tender beinw accepted for Ll3O. ° Mr Joseph Burke proposed Messrs Tutton and Bushes tender to be accepted, but was not seconded. Mr Ross's tender was not put forward by any of the committee, *lthou*h the Chairman asked if it was to be taken into _* consideration. -.^g Mr M'Gregor moved that Kirkwood and Co. do sign the contract on Monday next, if previously approved of by Captain Baldwin, the Commissioner." This was secouded byMr Cooke. Moved by Mr M'Gregor, and seconded by Mr Murdock, " That tire amounts specified in the four tenders sent in to the Board, be published in the Daily Times:' After which a vote of thanks was returned to the Chairman.
