Tho business had been so dull, that Wintrap did not think it would pay tomake all the improvements asked for.—His Honor said that an application would prob ibly be considered favoraWy, when such accommpflation as the public had a right to expect, had been provided. As Wintrap was not'inclined to do what' was necessary, the mattsr must stand over until he was in a bettor state of mind.

Mr Weldon said iat about 20 acres of land had been taken, a good m ny trees, are., cleared oif, and a rotunda and a reuv^uinent bar erected. It seemed likely to be a pleasant place as pleasure gardens during the day ; of course, it would be an after question how it was to be mauagod at, night. The Superintendent asked to what hour'it was wished to keep the place open. Mr Metlieriiigtoa faid he should hko to have lihtrty until (leven o'clock. Mr Cook, who appeared for the applicant, said that although only 20 acres were nt pre ent included, the grounds would be nxtended, and the place made attractive as tea gardens. There would be fireworks in the evening-, and various amusements. The Superintendent said he fancied there would be no objection to the granting of the license. But before any great expense was incunvd, the npplicav.t should understand, that r mote as the gardens would be from the police, the Government would keep a very vigilant eye, to sac that no irregularities were allowed. If such should be the case during the present year, b\ all probability thclicenKe would not be renewed. The applicant had the thing in his own hands. Tue license was granted. Joseph C. Attri-.lge.
