DROUGHT BROKEN IN CANTERBURY.

(Per Phess Association.) Christehureh, January 9

The drought from 'which Central Canterbury lias been suffering severely for two months has been effectively broken. Rain commenced to fall at six last evening and: continued 1 throughout the night. The fall registered up to 9130 this morning amounted to over an inch, with prospects of more rain falling. Green crops, rape, turnips, etc:, which looked like a failure, arc now assured. The rain came too late to materially affect the grain crops, but the feed prospects are immensely improved.
