A train of open trucks and a covered passenger ear runs from Taringamotu- to Waituhi, *u;d a number of Maoris travelled .on the open truck, pakehas travelling in the covered car. Apparently the train ran off the line, as the trucks overturned, killing si Maori child, badly injuring its mother, breaking the legs of two' Maori ■woman. and the .-inn of another. Fortunately the covered car saved the pakehas, who escaped injury.
