Mr Stevens, a British Columbian member, has given, notice of an amendment of-the Immigration Act providing for the exclusion from the Dominion of all natives or naturalised citizens or coming from any Asiatic countrv south of the fiftieth parallel. The "amendment exempts any country, which lias an agreement with Canada'for the admission of its citizens. The 'amendment means the total exclusion of Malays, Chinese, Hindus, Persians, and Turks. The Government of Japan has an agreement with Canada providing for the admission of a certain number of Japanese, yearly.
