The secretary declared' that S)0 per cent, of the force to join. Ex-Inspector Svme said the union's r file object was to r.id the force of corruption and tyranny. London, December 22. A mass meeting of 1000 police in Trafalgar Square supported the Metropolitan Police Union. The speakers declared tliat 95 per centum were favorable to a union. A constable's" wage of 27s was inadequate to prevent corruption. Tyranny was being exercised in the force to an extent unrealised by the public. The speakers invited the support of all trade unions. The police membership is 5000.
