TIMBER MILL DESTROYED.

Per Press Association. Tauranga. November 13. Early yesterday morning a lire, occurred at Omanawa Falls in a mill belonging to Gammons {Tauranga) Ltd. The .small mill land the planing plant was completely destroyed, the. damage being estimated at about £3OOO. Over 100 men were employed at the mill, butowing to the strike the works were, closed down the previous day. ' The men had not left, however, and their efforts, in addition to a good supply of water, saved about 1.000,000 feet... of timber in stack. Mr Gammon warmly praises .the men for their willing assistance in fighting the outbreak. The mill and plant was one of the most up-„ to-date in the Dominion. The fire was probably caused by a spark getting into the shavings or from one of thx> locomotives. The insurances totalled: £ISOO in the" Norwich.
