IN THE COURTS.
(Per Pkeßs Association.) Auckland, May 27. In the Supreme Court, William Osborne, a seaman, was charged with manslaughter, arising out of an assault committed on a woman named Mary Gilchrist, with whom he had been living, and in respect of wheh he had served three -months' imprisonment, the wo-' man_ having died subsequently to the hearing of the case in the Lower Court. Accused sought to show that the woman died from major injuries sustained.while he was in prison. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and accused _was. sentenced to four years' hard labor.
