Christchurch, May 27. < - The Provincial Conference of the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Farnfers' Union was continued to-day. A letter from the Dominion Secretary regarding the Farmers' Political Protection Federation, referred by the Executive to the Conference, was discussed in committee. On resuming it was reported that the following resolution had been carried: "That this conference of the action,, of,.the Executive, Committee of the Farmers' Political Protection Federation in regard to the formation and the work of the Federation." Timaru, May 27. The annual conference of the South Canterbury Farmers' Union to-day was largely attended. It discussed affiliation with the Employers' Union, which was disapproved, for fear, of being involved in industrial awards. The proposal from the political party connected, with the Union was also disapproved, but it was decided to refer information on the subject to the branches for, their consideration.

Several farmers expressed strong ob-' jectioji to the new railway regulation regarding the delivery of goods at small stations on certain days only, as it would cause inconvenience when goods were wanted urgently, such as bags at threshing time.
