ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, May 22. The annual meeting of. the New Zealand Football Association was held tonight. . The Chairman (Mr H. N. Holmes) spoke hopefully of the progress of Association, and the increasing popularity of the- game. Ho said there were 225 teams plaving under the auspices: of the Association. :• The following officebearers were elected: Patron, Lord Islington; president, Sir Joseph Ward; vice-presidents—Messrs -F. J:. Courtney, S'.'AV.' Thornton,-and P.- L. Davi.es, with two from -each affiliated- association ; trustees—Messrs' H. N. Holmes,, F> J. Conrtnov, and J. J.. Roberts; lion, treasurer, Mr J. M. Olliver; lion, secretary, Mr B. ti. Salmon; hon. representative to the Football Association (Limited), -Mr A.. E. Gibbs (London).; hon. auditor, Mr A. G. Barrett The offer of Messrs Petit and Dudley, oi Palmerston North, to present a cup value 10 guineas for. competition under the Cup Tules was accepted. The trophy is to be called the New Zealand Association Football. Cup, the competition to commence this year if possible, and the final to be played at Palmerston inconvenient. The question of the New South Wales tour was left m the hands of the Council. It" was decided to cable to the New South Wales Association asking if .it. is .prepared to send a team to New Zealand this year.
