A widow named Talamantes, whose husband and two sons were shot as rebels, entered the insurgents' ranks, organised a band of Indians .in the. neighborhood where Colonel' Chiapas' forces were operating, and captured Chiapas after a desperate ride. 'Chiapas was wounded, and the widow, ordered his execution, which-. ;'was promptly carried out by an Indian 'firing party. Chiapas' orders condemned Talamantes' husband and two sons to death.
