WAIMATE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) • Before Messrs H. C. Barclay and W. H. Beckett, J's.P., at Wamate, . KHtttfc, G. Birtlewistle, A. Kirby, ? J . M'Queen, and E-. Yeitch fined 2s 6d for riding cycles without lights, and E. Ebzery and D. Taveiidale were fined similar amounts for driving without lights after dark. The cases were the outcome of a complaint made bv the Borough Council to the police in regard to the continued infringement of the borough by r laws. - . A special meeting of the w annate Library Committee was held last evening, when the resignation of Mr Coventry as secretary ana ' member of Committee was accepted and arrangements made for filling the- vacancy. A vote of thanks to Mr Coventry for his past services was recorded. ' The Waimate Hunt Club has decided to hold its point-to-point meeting on 15th' June next. The programme will contain events for heavy weights (lost), light weights (list 71b), and a farmers race (12st). A combined-meet with the Tiroaru Hounds he held at 'Mr Teschemaker's, Otaio, on 22nd Jui* e - The Waimate "New Club," which recently went into liquidation, closed its accounts with a surplus of £4O. H" s has been distributed as follows: To the Brass Band £lO, Pipe Band £lO, Public Library £lO, Swimming Club £lO, and the members of these institutions are naturally thankful to members of the Club for their generosity.
