OTEPOPO NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At its last meeting the Athenseum Hall Committee decided to augment its piano fund by inaugurating a series of social entertainments during the winter months. The first of the series was held on Friday, and the good attendance despite the cold, stormy evening, showed that the Committee was following the right lines in providing healthy i amusement for the public and at the •same time securing the support of the public in clearing off the piano debt. Four ping-pong tables, scallywag, parlor quoits, draughts, etc., were tne chief attractions, and the harmony of the evening was enhanced by piano and vocal selections ably rendered by several ladies. A number of the committeemen were assiduous in their attentions and saw that everyone was participating in the enjoyment. During the evening Mr Donald Morrison (Chairman of Committee) thanked the audience very heartily for their attendance. He briefly stated the objects of" these gatherings, and extended a cordial invitation to all to give every help in making the I venture a success.
