The Chambers of Commerce Conference discussed the Declaration of London, and adopted: a resolution that in view of the adverse opinion expressed by many competent authoritiesi and the regret and disappointment felt by this Conference respecting the provisions milder whictt food supplies are borne by neutral vessels to any port in Britain, as they wouKl be exposed to capture or destruction, together with the absence of any provision prohibiting the conversion of merchantmen into commerce destroyers on the high seasjj.this Conference earnestly hopes',Br statesmanship and diplomacymay;; yet succeed such ih'S&fications! of the terms of the Declaration as will render it more generally acceptable, and bring it more into conformity with the principles which have hitherto governed the practice of Britain in war time.
