SIR E. SHACKLKTON'S APPEAL

The Deutschland, with Lieutenant Filelmer and other members of the expedition, has sailed from Bremerhaven. Received May 9, at 0.-1U a.m. London, May 8. Sir E. Shacklrion, in a letter to the Daily Mail, makes a warm appeal for £12,000 to enable Dr Mawson to purchase a ship and start in June. He declares that Australia lias done much financially towards Antarctic exploration. The Mail, in endorsing the appeal, says one good turn deserves another.
