The price to "be paid by ■the company to the .vendors taken during.the first 15 years is £lO per acre; the nest' 10 years, £l2 10s per acre; the next 10 years, £ls per : acre; tho next 10 years, £l7 10s per : acre ; the next fwe years, £2O. per acre ; thereafter," £IOO per acre. The comipany has no right to the land, save ionly to the use of it so far as it is requisite to have the timber cut and reamoved. The. agreement provides that ithe railway shall be constructed in a (substantial manner and that the fol-lowing-requirements shall be observed iin such construction, namely—the Iguage shall be 3ft 6in; the sleepers j shall be heart of totara or maitai, and |shall not be less than 2200 to the mile; itbe rails shall be of steel, weighing not jless than 301b per lineal yard; curves {shall be of not less than two chains i radius; the grade shall not be steeper ;than one in 40 on a straight line, with j flatter grades, to, compensate for curyajture; alt bridges shall be heart of toftara, iron, or cement; cuttings shall.be at least 9ft and banks 10ft wide, irneasured at for matibiv lev«l; slpp.es/cf, 'cutting, in jnimicb cpuht]-y'to be, pracr stically vertical, and' in other material jas, may.• be. reasonably; [safe; ballast to'be.of any:pumice' or, ;other_ porbiis soil, found contiguous to jtbe line.., ... . j This railway would provide an easy | and'; interesting roiite to Lake Taupo ]and its maiiy surrounding attractions. 5 -...- . ,
