HONORING MR AND MRS WISE AND FAMILY.

Mr O. R. Wise has sold his grazing run to Mr Winchester, and has taken a farm at Piikeuri. On Thursday evening practically the whole of Hilderthorpe and the east end of the Steward Settlement paid a surprise visit to Mr Wise in his new home, and, of course, the party was well received. Mr D. Williams, who was voted to the chair, spoke- pleasantly of Mr and Mrs Wise's miinv kindnesses-, and Mr Stubbs. on behalf of the settlers, presented Mr Wise

with a very nice travelling hag; while .Mrs Wise was presented with a lady's

reticule, and Master <>. "R. Wise with a .'■'■ lid .silver fruit knife. Several testified to the many good qualities of the family. a;:d ••For they are jolly good fr-ilows'' was sung very heartily.
