MAGISTRATE'S COURT, WAIMATE.

TUESDAY, 25th APRIL. (Before Mr T. Hutchison, S.M.) Judgment by default was given in the following cases:—A. Jack v. J. Johnston, claim £4 8s 8d (costs 10s), W M'Pherson v. J. Johnston, claim £1 5s 7d (costs ss); A.. S. Jones and Co. v. Jno. Hicks claim £4 19* 3d (costs 10s); W. G. Napier v. W Galfaith, claim £2 4s 4d (costs 10s). Three old-age pensions were granted and one application for a renewal was refused on account of petitioner s income. Mr A. Garland was sworn m as a, justice of the peace by the magistrate.
