DROUGHT ON THE COAST.

(Per Press Association.) Reefton, March' 14. The drought here continues and shows no sign of abatement. The position is growing very serious, and the mines will soon be forced to down crushing, while other mining operations will be retarded if not forced to close down. There is a water famine at Globe Hill, where the residents carry up water in buckets from a small creek. In Reefton, in spite of the new water supply making in all nearly a million gallons, the town water is fumed off most of the day. Feed in' the district is very scarce, and milk in consequence is retailed at 6d per quart.
