The Oiphanago Committee reported a much increased interest m.-the affaus, contributions having been received fiom seventeen additional schools. Tho Sunday School Committee recorded its appreciation of the successful efioiti made in some schools for tho bettci equipment and organisation of the school forces. Of 366 scholars nominated for the scholars' Scriptural examination 243 returned their answer papers.. The average per scholar,for Nevy Zealand had,risen from 61.5 per cent, last year to 68.5 this year. In response to a deputation from the New Zealand Alliance the Conference promised its support. Elliott said he was not; one -of. those who held that division- w f as a wrong thing, and that there would be no more dcnominationalism in i'the -future.- : The churches of the future would be immeasurably superior existing ones. If he could prophesy he would say that this church would have :the efficiency of the Congregationalists, the superintendence and thp authority of the Episcopalians and' the co-operation of the Presbyterians, together with the aggressive zeal of the Methodist Church; when they had_ got these things he declared the- church of the future would-be so like heaven that they would .not want to Icaxc it. Thc.i .Conference expressed its appreciation of '.the visit of the deputation and; the good fellowship of other .'churches. They preached one gospel and aimed at one' result—the salvation of; men.
