The Flemington Cup meeting of the Victoria Racing Club drew tlie biggest crowd to Melbourne ever known, consequently it was not surprising, although the weather was unpromising, that the attendance did not suffer. Rain fell during the night, and. continued in the morning, but cleared before noon. The races were run in fine, cloudy, and sunless weather, in the presence of a. great crowd of visitors from all parts of the continent, including Earl Dudley (Governor-General), Admiral Bosanquet (Governor of. South Australia), and Admiral Poore, with, their respective suites, and all the principal society people. There was a great display, of dressing. • The racing proved: good.
