Nepia Te Paaaka, an aged Maori,•drank rheumatic.liniment and died from the effects.-.' jp; ' ' Feilding, October 22. ■ Eric Fowler, of Kimbqlton, aged 18, left home with a horse tliis morning and returned later with his- face frightfully ■ [ battered. He was evidently kicked by the horse, ithough he could remember nothing of the r accident;' ' It was marvellous how 'lie was able to reaoli home. He-\vas taken-'to the hospital, and it -will be''a week before lie will be out of .extreme danger. ; Cliristchurch. October 22. A railway ganger, w liilst proceeding along tlie Christcliurch to Lyttelton line this morning, found the dead body of a man at- a spot about one mile on the-' town side of Heathcote .station. The body has been identified as that of Frank Mel son. about 45 years of age, a resident of Woolston, who leaves a wife and four children. Nothing definite lias yet been ascertained as to what happened to deceased, but it is surmised that lie was'a passenger by the 10.50 p.m. train from Lyttelton on Saturday, that he fell off the train, and that he rolled to the foot of the embankment, where the body was found. Wairoa. October 24. A native girl named Paeroa WhaCnga, aged 10 years, was fatally burnd at- Nuhaka on Saturday.
