Riddell, 5.M.,.- at . tho Magistrate's Court this - 'Afternoon'iii tho civil action brought by tlie Wellington Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners' Industrial Union of Workers against Robert Lamason to recover £2 12s, one year's contributions to the funds of the society at Is a week. Defendant had contested the action on the ground, as alleged, that lie had resigned shortly after joining the English Society of Carpenters and Joiners, which was the parent body to the plaintiff union. The magistrate, after reviewing -the evidence, said that the onus of proving liis resignation was on defendant, and he was liable for the arrears claimed.
