(Per Pitiiss Association.) Cliristchurch, September 27. The police. ■ received word to-day that William' John Mann, a farm laborer, had died at Ea.ss Oxford as the result of a kick from » horse. Greymouth, September 28. A miner named James Baker, aged 60, was working yesterday afternoon in the No. 1 State. Colliery at Pillars when he met with fatal . injuries through a fall of the roof. It took over two hours to extricate him owing lo the roof continuing to fall, rendering it difficult, rescue work. The party got him out at 3.30 p.m,, and removed him_to the hospital, but he succumbed at 7 o'clock. He leaves a widow and five children, the youngest of whom is only a few months old. He was formerly a resident of Uruimer. All work at the. mine has been suspended till after I the funeral. '
