The wool sales opened animatedly at par to 7i- per cent, advance on last series. Received September 28, at 10.40 a.m. London, September 27. The wool sales commenced with great competition between Home and Continental, buyers, the Americans not bidding. The market shows signs of strength on account of small supply. Tho New Zealand wool catalogued amounted to 68,200 bales. Alerinos were id, fine crossbreds of all grades -Jd, medium crossbreds of all grades sd, and coarse crossbreds of all grades I Id dearer than the closing rates at last ' sale. The estimated values of New Zealand wool at tho close of the fourth series of colonial wool sales held in London on 27th July were: Superior merino Is Id to Is 3id; medium merino, lOid to Is inferior merino, 7id to lOd; fine crossbreds (aTi grades). Is lid to Is ,4d; medium crossbreds (all grades), lid to is Id;'coarse crossbreds, Sid to lOid.
