The Winnipeg Free Press' expert estimates the western crops of wheat at 102.250,000 bushels. oats at 108,000,000 barley at 7,000,000, and flax at 7,750,000 bushels. DUNEDIN MARKETS. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, August 24. Fat Cattle. —201 were yarded. About half were good to prime and the remainder very inferior. Bidding was fairly brisk, but prices except lor prime quality, were slightly easier. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, including some lines ol i\'ei:iiers and .several lots o! merino.s. There was not much demand for export. and as the supply was beyond butchers' requirements the market was easier, especially ior anything that was not prime, the decline being fully Is Gd per head. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers to 32s 6d, prime 19s to 24s 9d, lighter las 9d_to 18s 6d. extra prime ewes to 23s 7d, prime 16s to 10s, others 13s 4d to 15s lid, lioggcts 16s ICd to 17s lOd, prime merino wethers los 6d to 20s 6d, others lis od to I Is.

Tlie yarding of f.-il: entile totalled 225 head, the bulk being of good to prime finality, and. included several North Island lines. There was a very keen demand right through the .sale in consequence of the yarding being below tiie average, and prices advanced fully 2s per KiPlb, the range being 22s to 23s per lOOlb. Steers made £i Jos to £lO 15s. extra to £l3. heifers to Ids to £7 17s fid, extra to £9 2s 6(1, cows ■£') 15s to £7 10s, extra to £ll. There was a .small yarding of store cattle, the only line of any consequence beyond dry cows being of three and four-year-old steers. _ There was not mucii demand, especially for inferior sorts. Three-year-old heifers made £4 to £4 355, 4-year steers £7 15s, 3.J-yoar steers £7, 3-year steer.s £0 15s, and dry cows £2 15s to £4: 15s. A good entry of dairy cows met with a ready sale, and prices ranged from £3 10s to £lO. according to age and quality. There, was" a good demand for fat pigs, of which there was a fairly large yarding,.and prices were firmer. Heavy baconers made 50s to 5Ss, and lighter 42s to 48s (equal to 4-id per lb), large porkers 32s to 38s, smaller 20s to 30s (equal to 4ld to 4Jd and in some cases od per lb). Stores were slow of s.-iJe, large sorts making 22s to 255. medium 14s to 20s, .smaller 8s to 12s, and weaners 5s to 10s.
