IMPORTANT PURCHASE OF HIGHCLASS RAMS.

A "COMING" FLOCK. A flock of which, more is likely to be heard in the near luturo is that owned by Mr John A. Maclarlano, of Hen Lomond Estate, iiawke's Bay, N.Z. We are advised tliat recently Mr Maefarlano effected an important purchase qf stud sheep from Air Krnest Short, of Parorangi, Feilding, the noted R»mney breeder. . The lot comprised one four-tooth ram and one six-tooth ram of the famous "Record" strain. Mice one hundred guineas each. Those sheep cut 261b and '27lb of wool respectively —enormous liecees- lor Romnev rams.. , Mr Macfarifthe also l , bought. 2o stud ewes from the—same celebrated ilock at a long figure, but the- actual price paid has nut-transpired. it may' be remembered that, the Ben Lomond' wool topped the i'sapier sales in January last, realising the splendid prices of * 14.\d for lambs' w 00l ami 14;Jd for owe wool, the former, we believe, being among the highest, it not the highest price ever obtained lor a similar class of wool ill New Zealand. Mr Jlacfarlane is an enthusiastic, believer in the merits cf (juibell's Powder Dip, of which he is a constant user and the results he is obtaining are a safe criterion as to his ability to judge of the best Dip to use.
