The monthly meeting of the Waitaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, held yesterday morning, was attended by Messrs Fraser (chairman), M'Farlane, Nicolson, Dovey, Finch, Allan, and Mahoney. The Clerk of the Waitaki County Council notified that his Council had appointed Mr H. A. Dovey to fill the vacancy caused by tho death of Mr Robert Blair. The Town Clerk wrote, that the Borough Council had under consideration the question of erecting a public morgue, and as it was understood that the provision of a mortuary at the, Victoria Home was contemplated by the Board, asked if the Board would be prepared to consider the question of erecting a building suitable for both purposes, each local body to pay a. proportion of the cost on a basis to be arranged. It was agreed to replv that the mortuary for the requirements of tho Home must be near the main building, and it would not be advisable that a public morgue should be erected, in close vicinity to the Home. The Matron reported that six inmates had been admitted during the moutb, four had been discharged, and one bad died, there being at present 37 inmates—five females and 32 males. The following donations wero acknowledged with thanks:—Fruit, Mr W. M. M'Kenzie; clothing, Miss Chase, Mrs J. M'Donald, and a friend; provisions. Christian Brethren, Alfred Lodge, and members of Columba Church; vegetables, Mrs D. Isbister. Accounts amounting to £156 2s Gd were passed for payment, and the Board rose. Judgment for plaintiff by default of defendant was given at the Magistrate s Court this morning in the case of "Win. Beo v. John H. Brown, a claim for £3 Is Id, and costs 12s. Including Senior Cadets, Rifle Clubs, and Territorials, there is a total enrolment of 22,700 in the New Zealand defence forces, an increase of about 2000 for the year. What is claimed to ho tho greatest picture of tho present day, entitled "The King's Funeral," will bo shown at tho Opera Houso by the Operacinescopo Company on Monday evening. The usual matineo of the Company will bo held on Saturday afternoon.

The London Operacinescopo Company were favored with a splendid house last night, when sonio pictures of remarkable interest were presented. "London in Sorrow" and "Proclamation of King George V." were of exceptional merit, and served to give peoplo an idea ol such a great function with little cost to themselves. Another good picture was the "Cambridge-Oxford Boat Race." As a comic "Tho Threo Brothers could not be excelled, and caused much amusement and laughter. ' Tho audienco wero also favored with an illustrated song from Mr "W. Lupton ontitled "Baby Bunting," which was rendered in good style. During tho evening a special orchestra was engaged, and tho niusio rendered added greatly to the enjoyment of patrons. Business men find Zymolo Trokeys a great convenience. A box is easily carried and there's nothing so good for hoarseness and coughs. 28 Mr J.
