Tho returns of imports and exports published in to-night's Gazette enable the following comparison to be made: First quarter of 1009 —Exports, £7,031.134; imports, excess of exports over imports, £2,804,393. First quarter of 1910—Exports, £8,859.657: imports. £3.911,793 _; excess of exports over imports, £4,947,560. During March last 2556 persons arrived in New Zealand and 3893 departed. In March of 1909 the arrivals numbered 3347 and the departures 4756.
